Code of Conduct
The Past Global Changes (PAGES) Open Science Meeting (OSM) and associated Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) are committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment. Robust dialogue and the open exchange of ideas are encouraged, while remaining mindful of others.
PAGES OSM and YSM are dedicated to advancing acceptance, accessibility, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion across all activities. Gender Equity and Diversity Statement
Past Global Changes (PAGES) seeks to promote the involvement of scientists worldwide, with particular emphasis on early-career researchers (ECRs) and scientists from low- and middle-income countries. PAGES facilitates activities that address past changes in the Earth system in order to improve projections of future climate and environment, and to inform strategies for sustainability. The Open Science Meeting (OSM) and associated Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) aim to promote interdisciplinary scientific exchange and international cooperation in past global change research, contributing to the understanding of changes across key components of the Earth’s surface system (air, water, ice, land, life, and society) over a wide range of timescales.
PAGES OSM and YSM are committed to ensuring broad representation across all objectives and to serving as a model for best practices in gender equity, diversity, and inclusion in membership, activities, events, programs, and services.
Diversity encompasses, but is not limited to, race, religion, geographic location, disability, gender identity, and sexual orientation. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and harassment-free environment for all participants, regardless of age, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, nationality, marital status, military or veteran status, religious beliefs, dietary requirements, or childcare and pregnancy-related needs.
PAGES OSM and YSM recognize that gender equity is essential for achieving excellence in paleoscience research. Advancing equity and diversity requires active engagement from individuals to support inclusion, address barriers, and foster a culture of respect. We encourage all participants—whether attending virtually or in person—to contribute to these goals in their roles and activities.
